More often than ever we are reminded of the importance of living sustainably. It seems everywhere we turn it's in front of us: recycle, waste less, protect the environment, energy prices, etc. Most of us haven't much experience anything other than life with modern conveniences. Living an eco-friendly lifestyle doesn't mean giving up modernity; it is an opportunity to get the most out of your time and resources. It means stepping beyond modern and into a creative future.
Our workshops and courses include permaculture design, natural farming, small garden design, solar cooking, food preservation, energy conservation, and many other topics related to sustainable living. Workshops are tailored to meet the interests of participants.

About Milk And Honey Permaculture
Milk And Honey Permaculture is a small, organic, urban farm that operates according to natural farming principles. This means long-term sustainability. This farm is unique in that the main goal isn't to sell produce from a market garden; it's purpose is to provide food for a family and to show people how ecological, natural farming can be easy and fun. Permaculture principles lay the foundation for less work as each season passes. This means more time to enjoy the environment we've created.
Originally, the farm was a regular home with a yard in a suburban setting. A family of four lived in the home; me and my three children. The children helped with yard work: mowing the grass, pulling weeds, watering trees, planting a vegetable garden, etc. Eventually, the children grew up. I had to manage the yard work on my own. Sometimes, when one of the children is home or when some big job needs to be done, I have help. For the most part the work is on me.
I have always loved gardening. Over the years, I became more conscious of where food comes from and also of environmental impacts of modern farming. I knew I could make a difference, albeit a small one. I wanted to raise chickens, both hens and roosters, so I rented a small plot of land from the local council. Over the course of a few months I transformed the plot of land into a productive landscape complete with chickens, fruit trees, spices, teas, and an assortment of seasonal vegetables.
Circumstances led to me giving up the rented plot of land so I moved the farm to my own property around my home. I have over 70 trees, spices, teas, vegetables, a fish pond, an animal corner, all maintained by one woman, by myself.
There are many ways to benefit from natural farming and a sustainable lifestyle in general; harvesting fresh produce is only one of them. A natural approach to life saves money, relaxes the mind, and provides a rich connection with the natural environment. More interesting is how ecology is combined with economy for a well-balanced, sustainable lifestyle. If you are in the area, come visit!
